Example Event Description — Launch for “Words Apart” by Aimee Lucido

The Ups and Downs of Sisterhood

We're so happy to have AIMEE LUCIDO here for the launch of her amazing new middle-grade read: Words Apart!

This book opens on a definition: sororal. An adjective that means "having to do with sisters". And that's exactly what the story is. We follow Olive (who loves words) and Mattie (who loves drawings) -- and despite their differences, the two girls are inseparable.

But with major shifts in their family and all the twists and turns of growing up, that begins to change. Told in a mixture of writing, comics, definitions, crossword puzzles, and doodles, this dynamic book is like no other. It's hilarious, heartbreaking, and utterly fascinating.

Come celebrate it with us in-store! You might even learn a couple of amazing new words.

T.S. Hullabaloo: A Graphic Novel Based on a (Mostly) True Story written by VICTOR FUSTE and ZACK ROSENBERG

Jack Daring’s middle school life turns chaotic with the addition of a Hullabaloo.

What’s a Hullabaloo, you ask? Hullabaloos are mischievous creatures that attach themselves to some kids, and Jack’s is a particularly trouble-making joke-cracking cat-like one named T.S.

If Jack’s going to survive, he’ll need to learn how to live with his new companion. Easier said than done!

Asgardians: Loki by GEORGE O'CONNOR

Villain or victim or something more? Read on, young reader, about his exploits with the jotunn, his fooling of the giant wolf Fenrir, his broken bonds with the gods of Asgard—and then, and only then, decide what title best fits that infamous trickster: Loki.

Adorable Empire by LAURA TERRY

Her parents’ divorce, moving houses, friendships ending—Jinx has had it rough these days. On top of all that, she’s now being followed around by strange, magical little critters whom she calls “the Adorables”. Their fire-breathing, size-changing, flower-pooping antics only add to the stress of her life but she can’t seem to get rid of them. One thing’s for certain: chaos has never been so cute!
